Solutions to High Taxes
Committee:
In campaigning for representative for the 83rd District I have offered the following solutions to our high taxes. The Illinois General Assembly is incapable of reducing the size of the government so it would benefit taxpayers if we increased the amount of money we "allow" them to keep. In speaking with voters I have found no opposition to my solutions.
- Increase the dependents claim on state income taxes from $2,000 to $4,000 per person. It now takes
$12 to purchase what $1 bought in 1950. $2,000 is not justice for the taxpayer.
I wrote to Professor Walter Williams, Head of the Economics Department of George Mason University in Georgia. He said everyone agrees with that claim that $2,000 has not kept up with the cost of living increase. - A $1,000 credit on State Income Taxes for mandatory support of state dependents and entitlement programs. Charitable contributions are deductible. Forced charitable deductions should also be deductible.
- Tax credit for unborn babies from conception. (doctor certification of pregnancy). Having a baby in contemporary society is very expensive. The doctor is treating two patients. Ask any pediatrician.
- Elimination of tolls on Illinois highways. Tolls penalize motorists in counties that surround Cook County. No toll booths there. Either everyone pays, or no pays. Let's stand up for suburban drivers who utilize the tool booths every day.
- A revolution in the way we fund education. Privatize the school system. A voucher system where each student receives a set amount. The parents can enroll the children in the school of their choice. The parents will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the building and staff by their elected school board. One superintendent for the state to oversee the schools. This should reduce property taxes. Besides the schools are a voting block for the Democrats which actually stiffles our educational system. One of the main problems in the school is "discipline" which could be improved by privatizing the schools. Parental rights and responsibility must be reintroduced into society.
- Consider raising level of taxable income to $30,000.
